Separation of Church and School

I came across this article, and I thought it was interesting because its about Tennessee schools. The act prohibits science teachers from incorporating religion into the class room. What do you think about this? Will it be a positive or negative catalyst for students?

  1. Whoever wrote the article seems to think that the act will make it easier for teachers to incorporate religious ideas into science classes, hence their direct statement as such and all of the snarky redirect concerning the state of Tennessee. With that in mind, I find the factual reporting of the article dubious. Now, personally, I do not think that it is necessary for science classes to incorporate religious perspectives into instruction. At the same time, it is not responsible science to teach theory (e.g., evolution) as fact. It is not fact. It needs to be made clear to students that it is a scientific theory that seeks to explain nature, but it is not a -law- of nature. Any science class that is covering evolution should already know the difference between law and theory.
